Sometimes you need a little help, I guess. I am very independent with my Type 1 Diabetes. Every blue moon I will ask my wife for a few skittles if she is in the kitchen... I think I am saving it until I really need it when I am old and not able fu...

DIABETIC PERSPECTIVE

I am finding out that I have a lot of Diabetes related thoughts that have built up... so, I must write about each thought as they pop into my head. Here is a recent thought/memory ....

My mom was kind enough to subscribe to Diabetes Forecast Magazine in the mid to late 1980's. Once a month I would get a glimpse of all the new available Diabetic technologies (you know the blood checker that looked like a pen, I still have one somewhere in storage), latest diet fads (weighing your food articles)… Continue

Anyways, I'm working on a project. I want to display, on both of my blogs a slide show, of people who have diabetes. I'm asking for everybody's help. I've already received some pictures but I would like to have more... I really want to make an impact.

Unfortunately, diabetes is a disease without a face. I want to show the world that diabetes is not just a disease; the… Continue

My first 3 month checkup

I had my first 3 monthly checkup wih my GP this morning since being diagnosed on the 3rd April 2009 (2 days off April Fool's day - how ironic). My HbA1c then was 9.3. Three months later I'm down to an almost respectable 6.2 and have shed around 10Kg. It's amazing what a bit of exercise, a healthy diet and 1000mg of Metformin a day can do. I must acknowledge the great people at diabetespowershow.com for their fantastic podcasts - you made all those kilometers on the treadmill almost bearab… Continue
