i just got this pump on Wednesday because Deltec discontinued theirs. but the one touch ping is way better than Deltec Cozmo. =)
in my opinion anyway.

The countdown has begun. I placed my order yesterday. We are waiting for the final approval from the insurance company. If all goes well, I'll have my Ping in sometime late next week. :)

Unfortunately, my Diabetes Educator's aren't going to be available for training until July 6th. Oh, well. LOL.

Switched from a cosmo to animas ping about two weeks ago and absolutley love it! My site change and cartridge change have been lining up perfectly and can hide the pump under my clothes easily. Love it love it love it! I also got a diabetic tattoo on the inside of my left wrist about 2 weeks ago too. Between the two I feel a whole new sense of freedom!! Btw, my new pumps name is "Sir Pumps Alot"!!! Gotta have some fun!

Keyanna...the Ping is an excellent pump. The key to using any pump is to become educated about many things...carb counting, insulin sensativity factor, basal rates, etc. etc. etc. The User Manual that comes with the Pin is one of the best I've seen (I started using a Deltec Cozmo about 4 years ago, and the Ping is my 2nd pump....been on it 3 weeks).

Read the manual, talk to your Endocrinologist (??I think that's how you spell it). There's a lot of info to absorb in the beginning, but you'll find after a while, that it's not really as hard as it seems. Your pump trainer and other support staff at Animas will be glad to help.

While I've no experience with pumps and kids... the pump seems to be very durable (my trainer said it was made out of the same material mortorcycle helmuts are made of)). You can also "lock out" the buttons on the pump to prevent accidental "pushing" by inquisitive fingers...or activation by being bumped.

It's also a fact that many functions on the pump (like giving a bolus) require more than a single button push, so I'd think it rare that someone could accidentally give themselves a dose of insulin by accident.

Hello Everyone, my daughter Syeda (in the pic) is three. No I take that back she's four because it's after 12am and her birthday is today! Anyhoo we're in the process of receiving her Animas Ping Pump. We filled out the paper work, now we're waiting on the carb counting class which they keep canceling because we are the only ones who keeps signing up. Thank goodness the young lady offered to do a one on one class! So my question is this, for all the veteran pump users is the Ping pump a good one? For her age group as well? The reason we're considering is because she's averaging too high (255mg) plus she's starting VPK this August.

A keyboard on the Ping remote would definitely be an amazing tool.
Susan Van Abs Comment by Susan Van Abs on June 1, 2009 at 8:03am
The one thing I would like added to the One Touch Ping remote is a keyboard like on my Blackberry. That way I can enter notes that mean something rather than the canned "notes" offered up in the device. It also would be good to enter the dose using number rather than scroll all the time.

Just got set up on mine today also. I went into class and 3 hours later walked out with pump attached. Saline till Tues. then novolog. So far so good.
