Hang in there John! You'll be out pouring on the miles before you know it! Good luck with everything and keep us posted! :)

John,
Imagine what the figures would be like if you did not cycle those 3200 miles !! Fingers crossed and good luck with the further examinations.

I have 3200 miles on my bike this year and I passed my stress test but failed my eco. I need to get a cath done to see if I have any blockage. The doc thinks I might have one. If I do they will put a stent in. Here are my last Cholesterol HDL 58 LDL 82 and my Triglycerides are 30. Go figure?

I rode at the SeaGull Century on Saturday (65 miles, metric century). I met a "Red Rider" who is a type 2. 8000+ riders and I saw only one 'I ride with diabetes' jersey!

Thanks Anne, I think I just found someone from high school on the triabetes site. If I wasn't 2931 miles away I would join you.

I know this is a cycling group but for any of you interested in a little cross-training, and who live in the Bay Area, please come join me at a Triabetes-hosted fun run along Crissy Field on 9/22/2009, starting at 6:30 PM at the Sports Basement in the Presidio (San Francisco). OR, come do some bike sprint intervals along Mason St. as we run! :) We will head over to the Marina for dinner (most likely Pluto's). I just finished Lotoja on Saturday 9/12 and so my running is going to be very easy!!
Cheers.

I apply latex adhesive (e.g., Osto-Bond) on top of the tape. It soaks into the cloth tape and dries in about 5 minutes. Then pat some talc powder on it so it's not tacky. This will definitely keep it in place. I first started doing this with my pump tubing after I sweated so much on a mountain climb that the pump catheter came out. When it's time to change the sensor, use something like Smith and Nephew Uni-Solve Adhesive Remover to remove residual latex. Of course if you're allergic to latex, this is definitely not something to use.

I am having a hard time keeping my CGM staying in me. I sweat a lot. I use an adhesive spray with the tape but my tape comes off. Do any of you have any suggestions?

I'm not really sure what benefit there is to join a second group here called Red Riders, as that is just a pseudonym for Diabetic Cyclist. Do you suspect that more TdC related discussions would go on there, and this would just be for general cycling stuff?
Mo Bishop Comment by Mo Bishop on August 26, 2009 at 4:56pm
I found out about RR's when I signed up for the San Diego TdC. I thought it was a great idea. It was great to see others in the jersey. I was told there was 13 of us on the ride.

Maybe all of us RR’s can wear our jerseys on a particular weekend every month no matter where we are. I wear my RR jersey proudly.
