Hi, folks! New to this group. I have retinopathy, stage3 ckd, and peripheral artery disease. What do you do when your vascular doc says ''walk, walk, and then walk some more", and you hurt so bad you can't make it to the end of the block?

Hi group.......
Complications happen only to others, so I guess that makes me an others...............

I have balance problems so walk with a cane and braces, Mr Mitral and Ms Tricuspid are leaking and Carotid const has some lanes closed, slowing down that highway a little. I had some labs drawn week before last and when my Dr FlipFlop got the results he snitched to Dr Kid(ney) who then called TWICE to have me come in to see him sooner, guess he could not wait 3 more weeks. Tomorrow I see my Dr F/F (pcp) and Tue I see Dr Kid............

Then I get a few weeks off before its the retina Dr, then the heart doc.....and who knows what next.

Well I have a list of complications, mostly raised their ugly head in the past several years. I was Dx about 28 years ago..so me and D-dragon have been together a while.

The biggest concern right now is kidney function. I was an early stage 2 CKD at the end of last year, then hit CKD-3 early this year and heading down toward stage 4 faster than I like. My recent labs showed another sizeable drop in eGFR, BUN and creatinne both higher than ever, and my NEPH called TWICE the same morning telling me to get in sooner than planned, didn't want to wait 3 more weeks, so I am a little scared by that.....

I also have balance problems, numbness and other problems as well.

Hi Anthony. I am sorry to hear about your creatinine level. I know it is scary. My creatinine level has been about 1.83 since November. I was told to get better control of my glucose levels and it would postpone the problems. I was able to go on a pump (I was turned down 5 years ago) and things have been holding since then. My protein intake is limited and I have other dietary restrictions. There is a small book for kidney/diabetic patients and I will get you the information if you don't have it. Other complications are heart and foot related. I have been a Type 1 for 30 years and am also new to posting on this site.

I am adding my story now to the group and seeking advice...desperate advice. I just recently got back a albumin/creatinine ration of well over 1,000!!! Obviously it is a shocker (well not really given my history) but it was a PITA and a KITA (KICK in the a**). Unfortuanely I am destined, I am afraid, for CKD (chronic kidney disease), although we're working on it. Anyone else facing this who can offer sage advice?

40 yrs of diabetes. yes - complications. 6 miscarriages, lost top teeth, 6 heart bypass, lost both legs, etc. etc. we didnt have as much info back then. this is a great site, especially for you newbies. most of you will not have to experience these complications. i very much believe all things for a reason. there is a positive lesson in all experiences. we can all learn from one another. butterflies & rainbows to all.

Rick - I hate when that happens. It is a PITA

I have a terrible case of PITA syndrome. When my BS goes high or low it is especially terrible. In fact even when my BS is near perfect PITA can strike without warning. I think we need mored reasearch into PITA syndrome.

Rick

PS: in case you do not know PITA syndrome stands for Pain In The Ass.
