Hello everybody,
I'm a T1 since I was 8 (i'm 31 now). I since ever i had myopia from family inheritance. Back in 2000 I did a laser surgery and after that could see like an eagle. It was fantastic.
But then, in 2004 my vision became blurred. I crashed my car twice that year and could never imagined i had developed retinopathy. I changed my eye doctor. The other said I had microaneurism in my right eye and told me to care and consult twice a year. In December 2007 things got worse and i had to go to a laser treatment. Another fantastic change in my vision. One year after my vision got blurred again, slowly. Last month i went to the ophthalmology and she got worried. Tomorrow i will see another doc who lasers me, a specialist in retinopathy.
Coincidently, two weeks ago I started an acupuncture treatment for anxiety and depression problems and mentioned that i was T1 and had retinopathy. I only got 3 sessions of acupuncture and literally I already see the difference of before/after the treatment. I will have 8 more needle (something i'm habituated) sessions. I'm expecting that after (or before) I finish the acupuncture treatment, I can finally say "wow, fantastic!!" like I did in 2000.
Tomorrow I'll have my eyes screened an in November i'll go back to the ophthalmology. Now, I'm waiting to see what's happening...

I have had Retinopathy for like 5 years or something like that. In one of my eyes, never had any surgeries so far (Thx GOD). But lately, like started couple of days ago, I feel like there is something like bump or something in my eye!! It don't affect my vision, but its bothering me!! Not sure if it is related or no!

Hey ya'll I was diagnosed about a year ago and no matter how tight my control is (t1 since 9/01) I'm now legally blind and its getting worse. Im really not sure where to go or how to start dealing with this even though its been yr since diagnosis and 8 yrs of eye problems. If anyone is up to helping me, as ive never in my life felt more alone with this problem I would be so greatful!

Hi everyone...I've been Type 1 for 25 years since I was 16. Have always gotten good eye checkups until this last one, when my doc said he's "starting to see signs of diabetes" on my retinae. I believe the term is "microaneurism" or something like that? He didn't recommend any action at this point, just scolded me to "control those blood sugars". (Uh hello? I've been on a pump for years and now the CGMS sensors, it's not like I'm not doing everything I can here...oh well, you all know how it goes)

Is there anything else I should be doing? At what point will I need to have something done, and what should I look out for? I live in a small city where the medical care is mediocre at best, so I don't know if I should make an appointment with a specialist? (a couple of hours away)

I have retonopathy since the '80s. Lots of laser treatments. Had detached retina in right eye, and as a result, lost the lens and vision in right eye. I had an ocular lens implant in my left eye in 2005 and cataract surgery. Right now, my vision is 20/80 in left eye with glasses, and 20/400 in my right eye.
In my right eye, all I can see are moving shadows and light.

I have proliferative retnopathy since many years, lots of laser. And I'm happy to join your group! I must read all comments and learn new words .

Panretinalphotocoagulation in 1994 for proliferative retinopathy. Some 3,000 zaps. A bit of edema a few years later that zapping fixed. Close watch on dangling vessels in left eye starting around 2004. Hemmhorrage in left eye Aug. 2006. Continued hemming left me legally blind by Oct. Vitrectomy late Oct. Good for a year, but I've had 4 small bleeders since. Two I saw and two optho found and zapped. He never found where I was bleeding from.

I still maintain 20/20 in both eyes and I've dropped my A1C's down to the low 6's for the past two years.

Currently no signs of trouble!

Hi I have full laser therapy then vitrectomy. Now my eye is ok:)) and I still have a very good vision. I see ten rows on the eye table. So I don't need even glasses:))))
