Just to introduce myself my name is Tracy from Central Ca, a proud wife and mother. My Husband is a Type 1 diabetic ( dx @ 16 months ) and both of my sons are also type 1 (Michael age 4 dx 5/2008 and Owen 20 months dx 7/2008). I started this group to get to know other families having to deal with the same issues.....

Hi, I'm Seda. I was diagnosed at age 12. My fiancé was diagnosed at age 3. We met during a diabetes camp. We plan to marry on September. My father and his father are also diabetic, but type 2. ;))

Hi, my name is Erin too! Hi Erin M. Whitcomb.
I was diagnosed 5/21/1972 at age 2 1/2 (tomorrow is my 37th anniversary!) and my brother, who is 3 years younger than me, was diagnose 6/15/1974 at the age of 23 mths. My mom did some family research and found that a Great-Great-Great grandmother somewhere on her side had diabetes, but I don't recall the details.

Hi, my name is Erin. I was diagnosed at age 12 (8/1997) and I have a brother who is 13 months older who was diagnosed at the age of 2. We were the only two in our family (both our mom and dad's side of the family) who were diagnosed with type 1 until my mom, at the age of 37, was diagnosed with type 1 insulin dependent. If you have a sibling with type 1 there is a 50% chance that you will be diagnosed with it as well, as in my case.

I have just joined this and am looking for more information on type 1 . My sister has three children under the age of 7 and her seven year old has been living with type 1 for two years . She finally got the pump this week and is totally overwhelmed ! I spoke with her earlier and she said she feeels like she is going to have a nervous break down because of diabetes ! I want her to join and meet other families . How do I make contacts for her on here ? Please help ! Her husband works nights and she feels so alone !

Hi. My name is Kimberly. Both of my children have T1. We do not have any previous family history of T1 before my kids were diagnosed. Trevor was dx at 4 yo and is now 10 yo. Taylor was dx at 6 yo and will be 8 in May.

hi my name is lev, i am a type 1 as was my father and two of my brothers. one of my brothers was not. i have 4 children also. three bays and a girl. two of the boys and the girl are all type 1. my brother (the one that has type that is still alive) has the same number of children as me. three boys and a girl. one boy and one girl and type 1. they say that typ 1 is only two percent genetic... i think that we got the whole two percent. it is an odd thing to be on a first name basis with most of the joslin clinic, from the admiting secrateries to the phlebotomist....

Hi There Tracy: :o)

Welcome to TuDiabetes and a Big Hug for you. We're Very Happy to receive you. I'm sorry that your Boys were dxd. with Diabetes. I know Males have a greater chance of having Children with Diabetes but I must say that I am surprised that both of your Boys have it. Hopefully you will teach them Well and they will thoroughly understand your lessons so they will be able to more easily accept this disease. They are Heartbreakers by the way. ;-)

My oldest Brother was dxd. at age 4, then my youngest Brother was dxd. at age 4, then I was dxd.at age 3. My oldest Brother's twin Sister(age 54 now) does not have Diabetes thankfully.

We knew of no one else in our Family that had Diabetes. Then about 18 years later my first Cousin was dxd. with Type 1. Some Aunts and Uncles were dxd. with Type 2 a little after that, one by one mostly after age 55. Then my second Cousin's 3 Boys were dxd. at about ages 11, 7 and then 3. My Cousin nor her Husband had Diabetes. That's about it.

I do hope that you and ALL your Men are and will continue to do Well. I know that you will be scared sometimes and probably shed some fearful tears. I saw my Mom and Dad go through a lot but way back then there wasn't much info or help.

Since it's a different time, I'm probably not of much help but if you want to, ask me anything. God Bless You and ALL your Boys.

*Terrie* :o)
