Hi, I'm Rachel and my daughter Sophia is 17 months old.
My daughter saved my life. Before I found out I was pregnant I rarely checked my blood sugar and pretty much ate whatever I wanted when I wanted. I was pretty much the worst diabetic ever.
When I had been married almost 2 years I found out I was pregnant. Immediately I was referred to a high risk clinic and followed by many medical professionals.
My A1C was above 8 when I found out I was pregnant. Within a couple of months I had it down around 6.7. I tested 13-16 times a day. My new endo was so impressed; I was his "star" patient.
I do have some complications with my eyes that likely happened from being diabetic for 30 years but were exacerbated by being pregnant. I have had laser treatment and Avastin shots in my eyes to help the problem. My endo suggests I think seriously about having another baby as it might render me sightless.
After everything I have the most beautiful, smart, fun loving little girl a mother could hope for as well as a great new endo and a new lease on life.
That's my story in a nutshell and I can't wait to help anyone wanting to get pregnant who is also coping with diabetes!!

Hi all,

Kristin suggested I join this group since I had responded to a member on a women's health board. My kids are now 14 so it has been a long time, but I had a sucessful twin pregnancy as a type one diabetic, if anyone has any questions I can answer, I'm here :)

Hi! I'm Lauren and I just had a baby (on June 20th- a girl named Lucy) and also have a 2 year old boy (Benjamin). I thought I might be able to help out with any questions people have since I've been through this twice now! I'm type 1 (since I was 7 years old) and on a Cozmo Pump. :)

I'm new here, but have had 3 successful diabetic pregnancies. My children are Lily who is 10, Caroline who is 7 and Samuel who is nearly 4. My first piece of advice from being a old hat is relax. Easier said than done, I know. If I could do it, so can you.

Congrats to those who have just found out they are expecting! Enjoy the journey.

Well, DH and I weren't planning on it at all yet. But today we found out that I am indeed pregnant. About a month, and only found out because I was trying to "put my mind at ease" by testing have having a negative test come up. Quite the opposite, and quite the shock!

Congrats Rizwana!!!! I can only partly relate as that is how I was introduced to diabetes was through my pregnancy. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and that that precious life inside you will grow and prosper just fine.
*Stay positive*

Hello !!!

I just wanted to give everyone an update!!! I am FINALLY pregnant, and I just found out this past weekend. BUT the news that was suppose to make me happy made me really nervous. Sunday morning I had a HYPO attack and I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and spent the entire day there. I am just so nervous I already think that I have failed as a mother. I know I should be ecstatic but instead I am just worried. Nevertheless, that's my update.
