Well, technically, I am not a teacher. I am a secondary education major with a dual concentration in History and PoliSci though. :)

I have been offered and have accepted a 6th grade teaching position about 5 hours from the community I grew up in. In the commuity that I substitute in everyone knows me, and saw me go through my diagnosis. For those who don't know, I'm usually upfront with those that I work with and my students. In fact, a few of my students were "old timer diabetics" and newly diagnosed this last year.
I am excited for my new position, I couldn't have dreamed of a better opportunity for my first class! Just curious how other teachers tell their students, other staff, etc.

O-o-o-o-h!...I'm rather happy to have tripped upon this group. I have not had outright comments per say, however it is at times sensed, not by parents but by certain colleagues. I'm very cautious about disclosing to much info. pertaining to my dia. issues. I also have asthma, as well as migraines....so must be careful. I try to get to get involved with extra curriculars as much as possible, so as to not rock the boat.
