I hit 5.1 this past week. Since getting my pump in April, I have had a 5.4, a 6 and now a 5.1.

Hi everyone! Today I found out that my A1c was 5.8! I was diagnosed 3 months and a week a go with an A1c of 14!! I am sooooo happy !!!! I cried tears of joy today.

I guess I qualify, my last 2 a1c's have been in the 5.x range. My most recent lab a1c was 5.6.....down from 8.6 in April '07....... Going from 2 shots a day of N+R mixed to full MDI has worked wonders.

I got here with a current routine of:
17 units of Lantus (BASAL) in the morning and evening (24u total/day) and a sliding scale of Humalog (BOLUS) for meals. my carb ratio is 1:10, 1u of humalog per 10grams of carbs and a CF, correction factor of 1:25..

I am now on TIGHT control because my kidney function is falling.

Before I started pumping in 8/2004 my A1c was between 7.9 and 7.3.
Here is the downward progression -
3/05 6.5
8/05 5.9
3/06 6.0
10/06 5.4
5/07 5.3
11/07 5.3
3/08 5.6
7/08 5.2

Because of hypoglycemic unawareness I started on CGMS 5/08

I got a 5.4 at my last diabetes check up! This is the lowest result I've had in 30 years of Type 1!!

My new A1C is 5.4 yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It took a lot of work, but it is all worth it!

At the last visit to the endo I was 5.6. In another week I go for my next visit. It shouild be about the same or evan a little better after all the hard work that I have doing.

My niece is now officially a member of the 5 club! 11 years old and Type 1, haven't seen this number since first year of dx. Don't know if we can stay in the 5s long, but I would like to linger here for a while. A1c 5.8.
