unite for diabetes

The Unite for Diabetes campaign seeks to create unite around the world in the fight against diabetes.

On 20 December 2006, the United Nations passed a landmark resolution that establishes 14 November as the official World Diabetes Day, and encourages member nations to create progressive diabetes legislation to help stem the tide of this global epidemic.

This is the first UN Resolution focused on a chronic illness. The world is just starting to realize that chronic disease is just as much of a public health and humanist issue as communicable diseases such as AIDS, TB and malaria. In fact, the countries hit hardest by the diabetes epidemic are in the developing world where adequate long term care for chronic disease is difficult to find.

By uniting for diabetes, we hope to change the future of diabetes. At today's rates, over 380 million people worldwide will have diabetes by 2025. Let's make that number obsolete.
