I would look for medical knowledge of course, but also for openness to non-traditional (ADA approved) concepts such as LADA, reasonable glucose limits and low carb eating. I want (no require) and endo (same for regular doc) who recognizes that we ...

My (former) Primary Care Practitioner refused to refer me to an endocrinologist, so I looked on my own: 1. I looked in the phone directory first to determine if there were endocrinologists in the area, then checked the online list of doctors in m...

Hey everyone, I'm doing some research on the best ways to find an endocrinologist. I have a couple of questions I'd love your feedback on: 1) How did you find your endocrinologist? Website? Insurance company? Referral from a friend? Referral fro...

Fourteen Years

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted, but I recently "celebrated" 14 years with diabetes. I don't celebrate having diabetes, but rather I celebrate my ability to cope with it so well and be healthy after so many years.

Read about my fun and crazy day here.

PSSST! Don't forget to fill out the adults w/ type 1 conference survey!

Hey! Have you filled out the survey about the adults with type 1 conference? We REALLY need a lot of people to fill it out to let us know what you think so we can get this show on the road, so please fill out this survey if you haven't already:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=LHBQXovJfpB4oJTj1tG0rQ_3d_3d

You'll also have the opportunity to suggest a name for the conference (so we can quit calling it the "adults with type 1 diabetes conference"...) and if your name is cho… Continue

What were you like at 22?

So, as some people may know, I turned 22 yesterday (for those who didn't know, don't worry, there's always next year!).

I found this question on another blog called No Pasa Nada and I would love to hear all of your reactions:

What were you like at 22? And if you're not 22 yet, what do you hope you will be like?

I'm really looking forward to hearing everyone's reactions. I just think it's fascinating that at the same age, we can all be in so many different pla… Continue

Hi Allison!

Thanks for the note. You are not alone in having that timing issue and I REALLLY want to start a group that meets later on. We are getting a bit large anyway so we're hoping to start a second group. We're looking into spaces to hold it - and it would definitely start later, more like 7:30 PM. Do you want me to add you to our listserv and/or google forum so you can get updates? I hope this works out soon and I'd love to met you!

Take care,
Katie

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my questions on the TYpe 1 forum. They were very helpful and I shared some of the results with my classmates in my group. I also gave them the link to the entire survey.

Thank you again!

2008 was indeed a great year for us. We smile as we look back at happy moments, victories and success no matter how small. We relish life and all its struggles. Let's forget the unpleasant times and thank the lord for giving us new mornings and better tomorrows. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Be Well.
