My name is Clayton Bruster. I'm a photographer and artist located in the Los Angeles, California area. Please sign my guest book above and leave me a voice mail.

I am also a diabetic. I was diagnosed as type II in March of 2005 after showing many different symptoms as I'm sure you all know here. They finally figured out I developed diabetes and it was throwing off a lot of my other systems in my body and making anything I previously had wrong much more prominent. In less than a year I went from a pill a couple times a day to two different pills three times a day, Lantus at night and Humulin R on a sliding scale during the day. Not to mention all the other pills and meds for the vertical problems that presented themselves. But life is beautiful and I love to capture that beauty and sell it. ;-)

I have some slide shows above of some of my work. I have done a lot of model portfolio and art work but I have also done a lot of events, glamour, fashion, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, birds, sunsets, product shots and you name it.

Here We Go - The test of the epi pen!

Today I am going to the doctors to get my prescription for Xolair. It's an injection for allergic asthma. The side affects are pretty scary, 5% higher risk for cancer, 20% higher risk of bronchial infections and on and on. Not to mention a significant amount of people go into anaphylaxis when they are injected. They said to be sure to bring my epi pen and have it ready. It will take two weeks to get it in. It has to be special ordered. When they get it I will go in for my first injection. It has… Continue

Xolair

Does anybody know what this is or have experience with it? I just got off the phone with my asthma doctor and they told me to come in and pick up papers for Allergy tests and IGE tests. They are trying to qualify me for Xolair injections. If I get them I will have to repeat the injections every 2 to 4 weeks. She said they have a lot of bad side affects and in fact when you get the injection you have to stay at the doctor office for at least an hour and they give you an epi pen when you get the i… Continue

Reaction to Cromolyn Sodium

I'm still having a lot of problems with my breathing, asthma, so the doctor started me on using my nebulizer four times a day every day and using a new med called Cromolyn Sodium. I used it for the first time on Sunday. I could not stand up without feeling like I was going to black out for a couple of hours and my tongue and throat swelled up. It was not a good time at all. ;-)

Now I have to go in on Friday and get an Eppy Pen, have IGE tests and allergy tests set up. Why can't thinkgs just be… Continue

Expense of Test Strips

So the more I think about this, the madder I get. On my last visit I explained to the doctor that the prescription for 50 test strips at a time isn't enough. I have to refill them almost weekly. She told me test strips are expensive and I should just test once a day in the morning to save money. Then, when I get my new prescriptions, there is still all the syringes and Humulin R for me to use when I test before each meal to take on a sliding scale. Why would they give me the syringes and Rapid I… Continue

Another visit with one of the Docs

Mostly good news today. Doc said my sugar is being pretty well controlled right now and I must be eating right (What she doesn't know won't hurt her). My cholesterol is very good, diabetes is good but still going to run some more tests.I did get lectured on my choice of shoes. ;-) I also found out today that my asthma isn't doing so well ( I already knew that) so they are increasing my dosage of Theophyline. It always makes me wonder when they look at you and say things like, "Now if you get hea… Continue
