MY DIABETIC LIFE

I was diagnosed with "Juvenile" (yeah, I said "Juvenile!"...Diabetic "lifer" as I like to call it) onset Type 1 Diabetes at the age 0f 12... now I am am 37 years old. For the most part my teen years went rather smooth, other than a few extreme hypoglycemic episodes which I blogged about here at TU. My real Diabetic test would be making it out of my 20's alive. I led a not so friendly Diabetic life for the most part. I NEVER quit taking care of my diabetes (my hba1c was always near 7.o), my type of "fun" during these years just happened to included alcohol (mainly) and drug abuse (oops)...please read my blogs above (Getting clean in Sin City). My "fun" would last for approx. 10 years and I now have a few minor complications which or not so "fun" ...LOL! Hey, I have always managed to keep a super upbeat attitude towards Diabetes (even to this very day that I am typing this), what the hell is moping around boo hooing my life away going to accomplish?..this is just not my style at all.

My 30th birthday brought a Diabetic friendly lifestyle, I have maintained excellent control for the past 7 years. I take one day at a time, I try my best to live in present time with my diabetes (and not live in the past or future). I am very thankful to be on this wonderful earth Type 1 Diabetes and all :)

Currently my favorite thing to do in life is travel. I created a group here at TU called "Traveling the World with Diabetes." There are many truly jaw dropping photo's that members have posted...Checkout this group when you get a moment, you will not be disappointed.

Enough about me... are you ready to improve your diabetes management? If you pump, please checkout my below linked discussion (and all of the responses) I started here at TU in regards to the dual wave bolus (TAG)... this feature has literally changed my entire outlook on my Type 1 Diabetes (for the better). You are one click/link away from "improving" your diabetes.....
