I'm not a soda drinker, but I felt better after giving up caffeine, which wasn't helping BG. Phosphorus in soda is a culprit, I think. I don't know how or if excess phosphorus effects BG, but it does cause imbalances in other minerals, especially...

What bathrooms are you guys are frequenting:) I test in bathrooms in restaurants & have used the bathroom at work, so I can wash & dry my hands, not to hide. Guess I could wash my hands & go back to my office or table (if it's not a dimly lit rest...

I'm not a biochemist, but this has been my experience with low carb & exercise in case it's of any use to you. Exercising in the morning sends my BG high, really high. A continuation or intensification of the dawn phenonmenon. Intense, prolonged...

I believe him. Sure it's my insurance coverage. I test a lot & that's about how long mine last. Feel like I'm at the drug store constantly getting more strips.

Thanks a lot!! I changed my mind on the PhD...I read up on it and realised it's the Msc that I want to do...which isn't to say that I won't go on and do something further next year, but for now I would rather spend a year on the Masters and get that, and then work out from there where I'm going to go.

I'm with you - there are so many possible reasons that corrections take a while to kick in at night that really, it feels like there's no way to be sure what's causing it meaning there's no reliable way to fix it! It feels like for the past few weeks, I haven't managed to get a decent night's sleep because I either wake up high or low - it just never stays the way I want it to, and now I've messed around with my basal rates so much that I don't even know if I'm doing more harm than good. Wonderful, lol.

I like it...that could be are selling point! "Hibernation...the key to world peace." Ah, if only!

What have you been up to? Hope you're well :) xxx

Sounds like we're on the same page Gerri. The "ask your doctor about __" commercials on TV make me crazy- they'd be the first item on the agenda for health care reform to be banished if I was king....

Thanks for your note Gerri. I probably shouldn't have said anything, but armchair diagnosis really makes me crazy. And you're right- there are so many bad reactions to antidepressants that it's dangerious to encourage that without knowing the whole story. At the very least, that should be up to a trained professional.

All the best,

Mark

Lovely to hear from you Gerri, I was thinking that I had to get in touch with you last week and just didn't get the chance yet!!

All is great with the new roomie, and classes are scary but good too. BG numbers aren't looking so good this past few weeks though, which is a bit of a bummer because I'd been doing so well and now it seems that no matter what I do, the same rules don't apply anymore. When I correct, it seems to take ages for my numbers to drop...and then it's as though they just keep dropping so that by the time I'm going to bed I'm wondering if I should eat something small to prevent a low or if that's going to make me high again. Hate that!!

How's everything with you?? What have you been up to?

I'm with you on hibernation...do you think WOG has any say in that? Because if we do, I think we should enforce compulsory hibernation for at least 3 months of the year...I'd love a bit of that right now, lol.

Hope life is treating you well and sending you some hugs back! xxx
