Some Irish Wishes for my Friends

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
a full moon on a dark night,
and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Nár lagaí Dia do lámh! --------May God not Weaken Your Hand (More power to you!)

A Type 1 Diabetic’s Perspective of Surgery.

I want to say that I have proof things are getting better. I had so much anxiety regarding my surgery. I read about horror stories of other diabetics in the hospital and in the OR, and I was not feeling the love on the day of my surgery. I had visions of a tug-o-war with the admitting nurse over my insulin pump in the operating room, I had visions of the anesthesiologist removing my pump when I was unconscious… and other things of this nature.

I was scheduled for minor same day surgery, removal… Continue

Resistance is futile

I went to my cardiologist yesterday for a follow up to an appointment, which was a follow up from a mishap last year when I fainted for no apparent reason, and fell and hit my head. I seem to still be terrified at the doctors' offices, even though I have managed to surround myself with some pretty hip characters. My internist is smart (and also very attractive) and a great doctor. Her office is polite, sharp and timely, she has all my scripts, and I have no problems with her staff at all. My end… Continue

Pumping Ireland - Spring 2007

“Sweetie, do you wanna go to Ireland with me”?

“Yea, sure” she replied and looked at me as if to say “in which century”?

Okay how about next week!

The guys working on the project asked me (at a very late stage) if I wanted to work on this particular design, and, oh yea go to Ireland a week from the day to present and do some planning and miscellaneous site work.

Never let them see you smile or sweat at work: I said “okay” but was already doing the end-zone dance of

HI

Hi my name is Joe

I have been T1 a long time (jeez about 30 years now) but I have only been treating myself well since late 2000. I’ve only been talking about my diabetes since 2003 and I started looking at support groups and other stuff this year.

The medicine ball

Ok, ok! so the endocrinologist visit went okay. Thyroid is good, cholesterol is so good she said “we don’t need to keep checking this” A1c……….. you know, I don’t like when they announce the winner of the beauty pageant – all that bullshit about the 3rd runner up and then the long drum roll… it’s buildup, it’s buzz

I know you can't wait to see him! Lisa's going to have some "weird" feelings now..........She's so close. I only made it either time to 7 1/2 months but when Amber was carring Savannah sh came in here one morning about 2 AM and fussed because she couldn't lay down and get confortable then about 4 days later Savannah was here by c-section! You just gotta wait with the natural stuff til he decides to come...Me well like I said I only made it to 7 1/2 months then had a c-section myself, so I kinda knew when they would be here! HA!!

Well I'm like you SOMEBODY has to fly on the airplanes JUST NOT ME! HA!!!!!! I guess I would try one ride but my hubby says NO!!!!! Me on the other hand well it's the boats I don't like! Do you know how many crusies I have won, the only part here is you would have to take a plane from Memphis to somewhere in Flordia then get on a boat and go to the Bahamas or down there somewhere! With my hubby objecting to the flying and um me objecting to the boat well let's just say that TN is really a pretty place! In other words it's a total objection here!!

You guys will get that baby here and all the work you've been doing will be worth the price!!! Tenfold!!! When you get done with your house do you want to start on mine? I will feed you and let you sleep on the couch! HA!!!
