Oh how the times have changed.

I was curious as to how different each BG meter has changed over the last 20 years since I was DX'd and this is what I have found. going from my first meter to the latest, I don't remember all of them, but most are here.

The One Touch 2 Meter, awe I miss the simpleness of it, it took 45 seconds for the results to show up.

ADA Walk and my first experience with anything like this.

I know shocking, I have had diabetes for 20 years and I haven't really been involved in anything. I am just going to tell you all what my whole day was like.

6:00 AM Google Map the directions again.
6:15 AM take another test and bolus because haha I am 227
6:20 AM leave to go to the walk
7:00 AM Check in at Volunteer Check In Get my volunteer shirt and get directions from my leader person, help set up the registration section.

When will we have a cure?

I am so tired of it. somedays Im more tired of it than others. just a minute ago my BG was 228, I feel tired and all I want to do is give up, but ive come this far to not give up. I just keep thinking of those who would miss me if I were gone. I still wish I could wake up one day and not have to worry if I had enough to eat, or if I had enough insulin. it's frustrating.

Why aren't I included?

I was looking through all the different programs and associations that are designed for those with Diabetes and this thought came to me. "why is it that every single one of these programs gear more towards the elderly and the really young? I mean I have Diabetes too, why not create a foundation for those of us who are stuck in the middle?" I know they are trying to appeal to the general public but I feel like I don't associate with it because it's for grandma or little bobby. I wonder if anyone… Continue

That first leap out of the plane, or just being at the door wide open getting ready to jump was a 10 on the fear factor scale. But once I did it, I never stopped for eight years. This will be my last season skydiving. I will miss it greatly, I have 1,685 jumps as of today.

Hi Melissa,
I was watching your "what a low feels like" video. I can definitely empathize with the freaky fun-house type of feelings. I've acted pretty strangely in the eyes of others during my lows. I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed the video.

I just got the funniest one, usually people don't know I have diabetes until I bring it up, but a few weeks ago I went shopping and the sales lady looked at my pump and said oh that's a cool model of MP3 player, what brand is it? and I started lau...

I haven't tried it on a regular one but the diet just says LO. I would imagine with as much sugar as a regular soda has in it it would read HI. I'll try that the next time my daughters are out with me. I will also ty it sometime on some of the ice...

Hmm this is a great idea. I have to get my husband to check my soda sometimes because I can not tell the difference. There has been a couple times at Sonics I would ask for a diet drink and thinking it was I drank it and about 20 minutes later I f...

This is great, especially for times when I am by myself and not sure if it is diet or not. I decided I would get an inexpensive sidekick and keep it with me in my purse to use for this.

YES! That is so funny. Yep, no doing it while driving! That has been a couple weeks now. Have you tried it by now? What kind of a reading does it show?

oh what if the character had to go to the Endo every so often and get an A1c and the ratio's change and the doctor tells the character to do certain things in order to keep it regulated? haha a typical Diabetic life.

Duuude. I can see it now. Your this little character that runs around. But you have to check sugar levels and take the correct insulin to get it within the right range. If you dont bad things happen and little stars float around your head. Like fa...
