Hi! I am the founder of TuDiabetes.com. In April 2008 we started the Diabetes Hands Foundation, a nonprofit with the goal of having no people with diabetes feel alone and people without diabetes learning more about what it's like to live with diabetes.

I come from Venezuela. I first went to school there and then went to Cornell University (in New York state), where I obtained my M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering. Still I have found my true professional love to lie in the web space, so I eventually became a Web Product Manager. Since January 2008, I live with my family in the Bay Area, California.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in late 2002 (initially diagnosed and treated as type II) and formally starting shooting insulin (effectively called a "type I") in 2003. I got on the insulin pump (Minimed 515) in July 2005. I am constantly working on exercising more: that is my constant struggle. In 2007, I learned that I actually have type 1.5 diabetes!

Since September 2007, I started writing a monthly column called "Hola Diabetes" for dLife in English and Spanish, aimed at the Latino community. Between May 2008 and March 2009, I wrote the column "Diabetes Hacker" in MyDiabetesCentral.com.

Another member suggested I write you. I started a "Best Insulin Pump" thread back in March. It's still going and has been so helpful to me. It's on the pumpers group. Around June 3 - 5, 2009, a member named Paris wrote an excellent comparison report on MM vs. Animas Ping. I didn't have any ink to print it at the time but am making a pump decision this week and went back to read the report again. It's gone. So is he. I asked another member if people quit the site do their comments leave with them. I know that sounds silly but I've looked thru all 12 pages of the thread and his report is gone. I see where I wrote to him thanking him for the time to write that comparison and that thank you note is on the thread at 6/4/09 at about 6pm or so. I see after that where another member addressed some of Paris's comments. My question is...where is the input from Paris? I've done a member search and can't find him there either.

i'm from Indonesia (south east asia).. i'm one of your network big fan. actually, i'm inspired by your network to make a same community in here... since, the diabetes care in here is still bad.(there's still alot of DKA in here).

FYI, i'm also a fresh graduate doctor (GP's) who tried to make all people with type 1 diabetes in Indonesia to be healthy so they can survive and work like the other people..
