Back in October, I made an announcement about the Global Diabetes Handprint. Then many of you learned about TuDiabetes when you saw the Diabetes Handprint and Word In Your Hand (the project that inspired it) on Time, People and other magazines. T...
I was diagnosed two days before my sister's 21st birthday, March 13th this year.
Thanks. It was fun, like a mini diabetes holiday. Ate a boatload of carbs, had some drinks and surprisingly still had halfway decent numbers afterwards.

Sh*t

Today at work, my pump is beeping like mad. I check to see what all the rukus is about.

HOLY COW!

16.3 units left.

Dammit, I forgot to change it this morning before I left work. (always in a rush in the morning, thats how I roll) Anyway, I actually IM one of my internet IM buddies to ask how long 16 units will last. She told me to check the pump because it gives you a count down. So I did. It said 15:10, so basically I had 15 hours left before it had no insulin. So I thought. 430pm came along… Continue

Have you ever?

Forgotten your blood machine anywhere?

A couple of weeks ago, I think I left my blood machine at Stop and Shop or it could be Costco, on third thought maybe it was Old Navy? Well, where ever it is right now I am positive noone is using it.

Missing paradigm link

Mr. D

I’ve known Mr. D for a little over 7 years. We first met in my doctors office and I was scared of him, he even made me cry, it seemed that me and Mr. D were forced to be friends and he was going to be around for a while. I wasn’t sure if I liked that he was going to be around so much. But, I was going to give him a chance. It took a while for us to get used to each other but eventually we got on a routine. Everyday me and Mr. D would get up, eat breakfast together, take the train to work, have a… Continue

Help!!! Exercise Fanatics Inquire within

I need advice. What do you all do to prevent a low at the gym. I know I keep harping on this subject but I seem to really be struggling.

Last night I turned my pump to a 50% basal an hour before working out. I checked my blood it was at 115 before going into the class, so I took some sips of Gatorade and turned my pump to a basal of 0% for the remainder of the time I would be working out just like the diabetes team told me to do.

Halfway through the class I am in, I am sweating. Not your usual… Continue

Another Gym Fiasco

Sunday morning I woke up to go to my training session at the gym. She had me doing a new routine of strength training/cardio combo. After twenty minutes I started getting so tired, I could hardly lift my tired body. Then all of a sudden, I start feeling really nauseated. Which is not an odd thing for me because sometimes I feel like that during a gym workout.

So, because of how tired and weird I started to feel I checked my blood. 221. Then, my mouth starts to water. You know the feeling, right… Continue

Hi Gina...this is TOO funny not to share.......linda.

Three Ladies in a Sauna .......
THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER, AND ONE SENIOR CITIZEN, WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA.

SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE
BEEP STOPPED.

THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. 'THAT WAS MY PAGER,' SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM..

A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER EAR.

WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, 'THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE A
MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.'

THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW -TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE
HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT
TO THE BATHROOM.

SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR END.

THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER.

THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID.........WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT....I'M GETTING A
FAX!!

When you stop laughing, send this to those who will appreciate it.

Hi Melissa suggested I ask you. I'm in the process of putting my CGM appeal paperwork together and thought it might be good to include a CGM study. which would benefit my cause, in the package. Something I can find on my computer and print.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Gina-
Thank you SO much for the support on my QUITTER mission! Now, as I sit here at 11:57pm I am getting that normal nighttime nervous feeling. I'm a night owl and stay up way past my hubby and kids. This is when I have a glass of wine and go outside to smoke. I can do this, right?

LOVE your wedding photos! When did you get married?
Erin
