Karen!... I hope you are doing well? Hey, I need your opinion on something. I posted a picture of two buildings of downtown Chicago... When you get a moment take a look and tell me what building they are , please! ( I just posted them yesterday, so they are fairly new in the pictures area)

Thanks, Karen - it's good to be here. I've heard so many horror stories about this disease, but my husband seems to be doing really well so far (he was only just diagnosed in April). Like Paula says, we have to focus on the positive and avoid the negative. He likes the challenge of picking low-carb foods to eat, and gives himself corrective insulin after every meal, plus had designed a log (from a composition book) in which he records not only carbs, but also calories, fat and protein. He's losing weight slowly but surely, and feels pretty good. His theory is that it's easier to control his blood sugar with insulin shots than it would be with oral meds, because he doesn't want to stress his pancreas. He's 57 and was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis in April, so he's giving that organ a rest for now. We'll see how things evolve.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome.

With this disease we have to do everything that it takes to not allow outside forces in life to affect us in order to maintain good health for ourselves.I have cut out and shut out virtually everything that comes my way that isnt contributing positives to the day.Its ongoing, there is always something new that presents itself. It is a conscious daily discipline and practice the more you do it the easier it gets.Askk yourself "is there any person or situation that is worth the expense of your health?? We are our own number one most important person to love and value first and foremost.!! :)
