Hello
I apologize for not replying earlier, I didn’t realize you had left a comment as I haven’t been able to check into the specified email for so long.
Thank you for writing to me and hopefully we can chat soon about type 1 or anything you like.

Hi Doris! If you think it took you a while to figure all this out, well I joined in August. (I am embarrassed to say that is when you left me a comment) and I am only getting to all this now. I have badly sprained my ankle and have been house bound for 3 days. Alas, finally time for the computer. I finally got approval for the CGMS and now am getting through the learning curve. It works really well when I have it in, but I still struggle with the insertion.

Hi Doris
I hadn't realised that it had been so long since I've been on this site!
Hope things are well with you? I'm ok..seem to be permanently exhausted these days. I've now been diagnosed with Diabetic Lipodystrophy and the clinic is hoping to be able to pinpoint the mutant gene which causes the Lipodystrophy (and Dunnigans). I have started on another new drug called Byetta which I am delighted to be tolerating quite well, I started on the half dose and am now on the full dose on top of my insulin, metformin and all of the other drugs that I take daily.
I have started a new eating plan designed by Dr Gillian McKeith which is a semi vegan diet with occasional fish but no dairy or wheat which has had remarkable results in as far as my blood glucose and insulin requirements. I've not eaten dairy and meat for a long time anyway so it's not a big issue for me. I literally started it last week and have halved my insulin irequirements. My blood sugars are fabulous, I am thrilled to bits. I'm seeing my GP on Monday and can't wait to tell her of my results.
I do hope all is well with you.
All the best
Catherine
