MOGANTI RAJESH How to manage diabetes ?

You need regular exercises, diet modifications and medicines (tablets/insulin injections) to keep your blood glucose in control through out the day. Insulin injection is not needed immediately after the diagnosis of diabetes is made (unless your doctor feels this is an emergency).Importantly if you are obese you need to reduce your weight through diet control and give up sedentary habits so that your insulin’ works better. Your treatment should be started and supervised by an expert, who should… Continue

Jade when your diabetes affects others...

gather round everyone! it's story time! so about an hour after dinner i felt a little low. i went and tested... and what do you know...53 mg/dl usually when i go and grab some juice from the fridge no one says anything. [most likely from my siblings lack of "diabetes knowledge"] this time my mom questioned me [she's the one that helped me when i was first diagnosed, so she's the only one that knows stuff] "are you high or low?" "HOW low are you?" "why are you low?!" basically i just ove… Continue

Linda Gauvin-Miller 30 YEARS AND COUNTING!

Len and I are celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We were wed June 30th 1979...at St Michael's Cathedral in Toronto, surrounded by family and friends, many of whom are no longer with us. It had rained on and off that day; everyone telling me that rain on a wedding day brought good luck....I guess it did, 30 years is not for the faint of heart ;) As well, it rained only while we were indoors...it stopped raining during the photo sessions and while out on deck during the reception on the Cap… Continue

Allana Been a while

I guess it has been a while since i have visited Tudiabetes. I've been super busy these last few months. I guess you could say i had a little fall out of really taking care of myself and my blood sugars and what not. I had an incredibly stressful Spring quarter of school and just couldn't get into the swing of everything. Everything just started to pile up and i just kept putting it off and putting it off. Anyway, I'm thankful that i am done with school for a couple months. I feel like i'm actua… Continue

Jackie Follow Up

So I don't have mono and my white blood cells are back at a normal level. My lab work from last month had shown a pretty low white count so that was making me nervous; more than the mono. The internet is a dangerous thing! I started researching low blood cell counts and mono symptoms and of course I get some really scary things. Since everything was normal, my doc thinks that I got a cold virus or something similar right as I was fighting off something else, so it took up residence in my throat.… Continue

MichelleStu CFMS Journey - Chapter 3 - DENIAL Letter

Well it finally arrived. I was a waiting in anticipation. I knew the answer would probably not be in my favor, but a girl can dream. It arrived on Friday 7/3 as I was preparing my house for visitors. It arrived in a nice crisp white Insurance company envelope - Opening it up as if I am waiting to be accepted to an affluent college. I read... "All information was reviewed. We have determined the new insulin pump is not medically necessary as the current pump is functioning and the continuous gl… Continue

Elizabeth Sometimes a low is really just a witch

OK, cute story: in the mornings on weekends, I usually get up at the same time as my boys and I'll put a movie on in my bedroom so they can snuggle in Mommy's bed and watch it while I shower & dress and Daddy does horse chores. Today's feature was The Wizard of Oz. When I was done with my shower, I came into the room to check on them and found Eric lying on the bed with his hands covering his face, turned away from the TV, and looking distressed. I figured he was having a low and got out the… Continue

MOGANTI RAJESH Daytime sleeping may lead to diabetes.

I have recently came to know from one newspaper article that people who have the habit of sleeping daytime are more prone to diabetes and this is studied by some researchers on a group of people. In this research it found that those who have the habit of sleeping daytime are mostly lazy and they usually neglect exercises and also those who sleep daytime cannot have sound night time sleep which effects the insulin production and this also leads to diabetes type 2. More importantly those peop… Continue

Lori Lake Update On Me!

Hello All, I've been doing ok but was having some health issues the past couple of months. I couldn't get rid of this bad UTI that put me in the hospital 3 times. On my third hospital stay, a pulminary embolism (blood clot) was found on my lung during a CT Scan. I'm now on Coumodin (blood thinner) for at least 6 months to get rid of it. I have to get blood draws frequently to make sure my level is stable. During that time my diabetes was reaking havoc but I knew it was due to the bad infection.… Continue

Michael Wiggins Bringing A1c down gradually!

I thought I was doing great over a a 4 month period bought my A1c down from 9 to 7.4 and I probably in the 6's right now. Doing all this in anticipation of my pump which has arrived just need to schedule training. Blew out part of my left eye last week and have spent most of this week with laser treatments and more to go next week. They tell me the culprit is a rapid change in pressure in my eye due to increased control in a short amount of time. My response to the doctors was you got to kidding… Continue
