QUITTER Update! 3 weeks!!! and 2009 GOAL!

Hello all-
Wanted to let you know that I've been SUCCESSFUL and the name "QUITTER" is sticking.
1:00am Thu. Jan. 8 is 3 weeks since I quit smoking. I'm DONE! I QUIT!

If you had asked me 4 weeks ago if I thought that I would ever quit smoking cold turkey I would have said "absolutely not!" So, I am VERY proud of myself if I may say so.

I've gained weight. That was inevitable. So, Monday I started walking. I walked 1 mile on a treadmill Monday night and I walked about 1 1/2 miles yesterday to a bank that was farther down the street than I realized. You see, I'd always, ALWAYS driven to the bank. It was a quick (one cigarette) trip in the car to the bank. Well, I walked 15 minutes there and 15 minutes back. I think I'd forgotten how much I really do love to walk. So, I'm watching my food (see post in the forum about "how low is TOO LOW to operate an automobile"). I ate a lower carb/calorie salad dressing today and skipped the croutons and yes, the BG plummeted, but all is well!

My new GOAL (resolution) for 2009:

On August 21, 2009 I will be 40 years old. Yep, I was born in good ole '69.
My goal: lose 19 pounds, grow my hair (bad haircut just before Xmas) and continue walking.
I plan to be better at 40 than I was at 20! Happier, healthier, and definitely sexier (okay, sexy may be a first time thing) LOL!

As time goes on, I'll keep you updated.

Thank you ALL for your support and for checking in on me! I can't tell you how much it meant.
Erin

Scott-
Thank you!! You're SO right! Once I had made up my mind that I do want this ~ It worked. Okay, so my chest was starting to hurt and that kind of helped, but I really did want to quit!

You have jumped one of the hardest hurdles, smoking! Losing weight, growing hair, and getting sexy should be easy stuff now!

I am so happy for you Erin. You are amazing!!! Stay Strong.

great job erin. i watched my dad quit cold turkey when i was a young girl. my mother never quit until my daughter was a young girl. and then it was because she had inhaled some chemicals that burned her throat and had to go to the hospital and be put on inhalers. when the doctor gave her permission to go back to smoking she never did. so i saw first hand just how hard it is to quit. i think watching my dad quit was what decided me on never starting. best of luck on losing the weight. if you can quit smoking you can do anything.
