Kindergarten is great. My youngest starts her kindergarten this year also. Alex has gone on to high school where someone in the nurses office has diabetes. In his elementary school there were as many as 5 type 1 kids. The school really knew what they were doing and were very helpful.
I expect your daughter will have a wonderful and fun filled year without any issues being more than a mere nuisance.

Good luck
Kevin

Hi Jonna,
Just wanted to say hello. My son wears the Omni pod and likes it very much. We gave him a needle until he got the pump about a year ago. He's 14 now and a big boy so I don't know if it applies to your daughter but personally I think it's great.
Hope you and your daughter are doing well.

Talk to you soon,
Kevin

Just wanted to let you know that you should click on the "Comment Back" link under someone else's post (on your Comment Wall) so as to leave the comment back in that person's page. Otherwise, they have to come to your page to read your comment.

On a side note, congrats on your baby!!!! Let us all know about your experience with the OmniPod, if you go that route.

Hi Jonna

Welcome to Tudiabetes. I dont use the Omnipod, but I pump my insulin and have been diabetic all my life, so I know what a child has gone through for sure. :)

I'm glad you found us!

I wish you well.

Robert

Thanks for all the welcomes! My daughter just turned 5 in October. It has been a very tough few months. I was seven months pregnant when my daughter (who was 4 at the time) was diagnosed. Hormone and stress levels were very high! As a result, our son arrived six weeks early but I'm happy to report that he's now a healthy 3 and a half month old. We're really interested in the Omnipod for our daughter. Love the concept of tubeless pumping, but I'm concerned about its size on such a small body. Any thoughts on that Matthew? I wore the dummy pod for a few days and was bruised, but I think it was from the adhesive tugging on my skin. Has that happened to you?

I am sure it has been a tough few months. My 9 yr old daughter was just diagnosed in April. We started taking insulin at the same time. I started on the Omnipod first to get experience. We are looking forward to setting my daughter on the Omnipod. How old is your relative with diabetes?

Welcome to our growing family Jonna! I'm going to be really short with this welcome thanks to carpa tunnel surgery yesterday and typing hurts like crazy! Manny covered everything I was going to say anyway! I have had Type 1 for 35 years and my daughter just celebrated her 9 anniversey with Type 1 so I kinda know how your feeling now!
