I did start on insulin pens. Actually I just converted to the insulin pump 2 weeks ago. I was okay with the pens they never really hurt (or at least not more than I expected) but I did bruise a lot from them and I would have to constantly excuse myself to administer insulin before meal times. With the pump those have virtually disappeared. It's tough at first and I still have to count to three before I change my pump site (yea, I'm a wimp). But sometimes I get a good chuckle out of it - it's good to try and smile once in awhile.
It's great you found this site. Seem to help my daughter work things out and make new friends. She was dx'd with D just 4 months ago and having a support system is a lifesaver!
Hope you keep your spirts up! If not....find someone here that will understand all what you are going through.
Hey Karina!
I was just dianosed this past year just like you! If you have any questions or ever want to let off some steam I'm totally open to it. Being new to diabetes is tough- but this is a great place to go to if you ever need support or have questions. There are a lot of diabetics that know what you're going through and would love to help!

Welcome to TuD, Karina. I love that hat! Be sure to check out the groups and discussions. There is a grand slice of humanity here that delights in helping answer questions and compare notes on problems until they are solved!

My son was diagnosed in Sept. How are you holding up? If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask : ).
