Yeah, hiking has become one of my favorite ways to relax the past 3-4 years. I walked for exercise most days before that. It was geocaching that got me out to some of the state parks and local nature preserves. I don't do as much during the colder weather, but always look forward to picking it up in spring again. If you haven't experience geocaching, you should give it a try!

Welcome to TuDiabetes, Liisa! Looks like we have two things in common, diagnosed in 1983 as type I and using a Minimed 722 pump. I'm thinking about adding on the CGMS, but haven't started the application process yet.

My A1C isn't so amazing when you realize that it is the average of some very high highs and some very low lows. A combination of illnesses and stress and other things make it really hard to manage my diabetes. It was after 37 low blood sugars in 2 weeks (and more than 60 in a month) that I really pushed to get the CGMS. I got really lucky that my insurance company is one of the first to agree to pay for my CGMS system and supplies. Thank goodness for that stressful job that gives me good insurance!

Welcome to the TuDiabetes family, Liisa! Great to have you here. Hope you find the community to be valuable. If so, any help you can give us in spreading the word about it is welcome! :)

Very interesting what you do at Random House. I have had Content Management responsibilities in the past, but never at the level of a publishing company: must be pretty hectic!

So double-kudos on that A1C with the level of stress that you must be under typically.
