Hi Steve! Just getting back from vacation and got the comment you left telling me how happy you are on the pump!!! Good for you - and I'm glad you like it as much as I do. Granted, there is still a lot I have to learn and it does get very frustrating at times . . . . but I'm so happy with it and wouldn't go back to MDIs for anything!!! Keep me posted on how it's going!

hmmm i have no idea why anyone would tell you that. if you carry the gene, you carry the gene. there is no age factor involved. most do get it at a younger age, but it is not uncommon for others to be diagnosed at a later age. there is no question that i am a type 1 diabetic and i'm sure there is no question that those that have gotten it at later age are not either. hope that clears it up for you. jen

Hurray, you are getting a pump!!!! I know how you feel - I was both excited to get mine and scared that maybe I didn't want to take this step after all. Honestly, there are some tough times as I get my basals set and adjust to it all - but I have never once regretted the decision. I am SO HAPPY I got a pump and wish I had done it sooner. Don't worry too much about the "big needle". Did you get a Quick-Serter? Using that makes putting the infusion set in a breeze and I never even feel the needle. It's really thin.

Anyway, please do keep us posted on how it's going. Since I'm still a new pumper I may not have a ton of advice to give you, but I certainly know some of what your feeling now and can hopefully reassure you on that stuff!
