Hey Rick..I'm also a T1 with RA, well, Adult Onset Stills Disease which is a lot like Juvenile RA and extremely close to RA as in sometimes I test positive to RA and sometimes negative. As of right now I’ve got pretty good control over the arthritis…I’ve tried tons of meds, all of the new stuff with no luck, it seems to be the older stuff that works best for me: methotrexte, plaquenil and steroids.

I've actually read about there being a possible connection btw RA and the switch from using pork insulin to humulin insulin. Have you ever heard of anything like that? When I think back it’s actually right around the time I switched that I started with arthritis symptoms.

I am doing as well as possible. The darvocet is not working so well but Orencia is doing much better. I am back to writing again for my little class and that is a blessing. Even if I cannot work I try to stay active with what this little class.

However I still cannot sleep worth a hoot. I am down for about 2-3 hours up for an hour, down again for for 2-3 hours, it is like that all day. Grrrrrr !!!!!!!!!

I wish you the best with your adrenal diagnosis. Thanks for looking me up. It is a blessing to have such good friends.

Hi Rick,
I haven't seen a post from you for awhile and wondered how you are doing. I could not remember your last name and Terri8 supplied it for me. It concerns me a great deal not to find you on site due to the probablility that your RA has most likely flared up.
Is the Darvocet still helping? How are you doing about the sleeping? And last question, are you still able to get up and get around?
My doctor had called me tonight about a different problem and we agreed to talk about running some more tests when I see him next week. He seems to think it would be good to check my adrenals and see if they are playing a part in all of my joint pain. If there seems to be a real connection with the adrenals and the RA, Osteoarthritis and Gout, I will let you know.
I see you have been diabetic for a long time now. I was just diagnosed last year and have learned a great deal from coming on here. I never knew what a tremendous and caring family I would find when i first started out. I wish you well. I wish your pain eased. And i wsh you a good night's sleep.

Hi Rick:

I've been on every minimed pump available (I've been on a pump for more than 15 years) and only ONCE did I get a bad infection. Seven days of Keflex injections and finally I had to have the infected area in my abdomen incised (ie. cut out). It was horrible!! But that was over 10 years ago. I find all the new "sets" much better and have not had a problem since. And, I'll admit -- I sometimes go 4 days between changes.

Hope you feel better!

Hey! I have Rheumatoid too. Falls under the umbrella of an Immune disorder which we know type 1 is also. I had a heart cath 2 yrs ago and my arteries are also clean. We should definitely compare notes. Next time I am in Indy i will let you know and we can meet up. Take care! Pam

Hi there Again! Hey; I have been going to Indy lately. I will be coming up there in June again and in July. I Love Indy. It is definitely more Cosmopolitan these days. I finished the 4 pan retinal photocoagulation surgeries on my right eye. The Doctor said it would save my vision in that eye; but not restore the loss already impaired. He said I did'nt have any other options or I would be blind in that eye. I graduated into the more serious eye complication being the proliferative retinopathy. One of the possible pitfalls of longterm diabetes. At least we diabetics are aware of possible pitfalls ahead. Some diseases catch people unaware of the pitfalls ahead. I am really trying to take very good care of myself. And you? How has the journey been for you? I plan on checking this site more diligently. I find it so therapeutic to share with and learn from others with the same obstacle. By uniting and supporting each other we also help improve our own attitudes . And besides that; there is SO many nice, caring people on tudiabetes. Have a great week! Pam

Hey Rick! Thanks for the hello. We are neighbors. How far is Noblesville from southern Indiana? You and I were diagnosed around the same year. Its been awhile since I've checked into this site. I have missed it. I only wish i could have had this resource when I was first diagnosed. See ya! Pam
