It's good to have friends with glucose meters

My friends and I had planned a road trip to a quilt store for yesterday, and I had been looking forward to it. I decided to change my infusion set the day before so (hopefully) I would have no problems. I also packed my bag with the usual supplies. I remembered that I had put an extra vial of strips in my usual tote bag a few days ago. But when I left, I did not take this tote bag! So, the four of us are driving, we're hours from my house, and I feel like crap, so of course I want to test my blo… Continue

New Endo visit

We live in one of the most rural parts of New Jersey. Currently, there is no endo in the county. Yesterday, I drove an hour to get to an endo whom it took me a month to get an appointment. Of course I have to keep a food diary for a week, and test at midnight and 3AM, which is incredibly disrupting, but there it is. She changed my basals from 5 different rates during the 24 hour day to two: 6AM - 7PM, .7 u/hr and 7PM-6AM, .5 u/hr. We'll see how that goes! and boluses are 1 unit/20 gm and 1 unit… Continue

Quilt Show

I am a member of a quilt guild, and we just had our biennial show. It's a tremendous amount of work to put on a show, requiring many volunteers. On Tuesday, we had "judging day." We had over 190 quilts this year, so I knew it was going to be a long day, so I brought my travelling kit with me (insulin, shots, infusion sets, etc). I have been having a rough time lately with my bg, so I am testing like 10 times a day or more. It is very exciting to see paid professional judges give their opinions o… Continue

Machine Applique

Recently, I've been doing a lot of machine applique. In this technique, you must only focus on the fraction of an inch right in front of your needle, and not worry about what's coming up next or how complicated your applique is. I'm going to get a dental implant on May 20, and I… Continue

Bad batch of infusion sets

Ok, here goes my first blog....So I've had t1 41 years, and been on the pump since approx 1989, you'd think I could figure things out better by now. I have an accu-check spirit, and i've always used mini-med sof-sets. I normally change every 3 days, but the past month, i'm lucky if i can go 2days without changing my set. i thought it might be something changing in my skin or something, because God knows a lot of crazy things have been going on in my bod the past couple of years (i'm 53), and my… Continue

I think I remember reading some of your blogs about your Dad and your mom's stuff. well, I'm down here in my sewing room now! I joined an art quilt group recently and we're doing a collaborative piece. We chopped up a painting by Matisse into seven pieces, and eah one of us is interpreting our section in cloth. It's very hard, and I'd rather be on TuD. I mentioned you in a discussion! See "so many drug sales reps" in General. HA!

Marie,
How's it going today? I used to quilt alot but now well lets just say that I don't have a sewing machine. I really don't want to get into why. It would take atleast a whole page to tell you! HA! My dad and I have had a few issues over the past 4 years since my mom died so yeah......Let's just say EVERYTHING is his even though I put stuff down there for my mom to keep. You really don't want me to get started! HA!!!! Oh yeah it rained all around me but we didn't get any! Thanks to the rain though it's only suppost to get up to 92 today! I think I can live (as bad as I don't want to!) HA!!!

well I married a nice Yankee 21 years ago, and he dragged me all over the US, and now we live in the most rural part of New Jersey. I can get my collards and ham hocks and other necessities, so I'm happy. Any southern accent I had is almost gone now.

HA! Your grandmother sounds like mine! The only thing is that she makes sure that I know I was born a Yankee! It must be in those older genes! HA!!!! I married a Southerner so that makes me a little more acceptable in her eyes! HA!!!

We've got too much in common! HA!!!!!!!

It's kinda funny.........I was born in Rhode Island from two TN hicks and moved back down here after my dad got discharged from the Navy at the lovely age og I think 3............So I'm a Northern transplant according to the Southerners around here! HA!! But I've always looked at myself as a Southerner! HA! I went to the Flea Market down here and fuond a tee shirt that said "American by birth........Southern by the grace of God" and I put it on my granddaughter one night when I couldn't find her nightgown but told my daughter and her hubby that I wanted that one back! HA!!! Thanks foe the friendship welcome and YES I accept it with all the Southern Pride in the world!!!!!!!!
