I've been a Type 1 diabetic for about 5 years. I was diagnosed in nursing school. I've had an insulin pump for 2 years now. I welcome any questions about pumping or anything my nursing knowledge could help with. My latest challenge is trying to keep in tight control to have a baby someday soon. I would appreciate any tips! Sometimes it seems the harder you try, the higher the A1C! And not to mention the lows, mentally and physically. My A1C is the highest it's been since my diagnosis. I think this support and sharing may help. Thanks for this opportunity to share and learn.

Jay Cutler, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos has just been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He us just about the same age as I was when I was diagnosed. I feel for him as a human, but part of me is greatful for this recogniton for diabetes. More people will understand what being diabetic involves and also what dedication it takes. I hope Jay will proudly represent Diabetes and what an inpact it has on everyone's lives. I pray for him and his new struggle everyday and every minute.

Wanted to welcome you to Tudiabetes. Great place here and lots of support and friendship.
I hear ya with the tighter control, seem like when you just get comfortable withthe pump, it goes and starts chaseing somethign else, then the lows start kickign in. I'm fighting that right now allong with complications with the heart and kidneys.

Again, welcome! I'm glad you found us.

I wish you well.

Thanks so much for the encouragement!! I hope that everything goes well for you to have a baby someday! I was diagnosed when my daughter was almost 2 yrs old. I've heard of lots of people that have been on the pump, had great control, and great pregnancies. It's amazing to me what can be done....got to go...hope to talk again soon :)
