on august 23rd Tony celebrated his second birthday. We didn't have anything planned really, just a box of cake mix and frosting cause we thought we would be in a hurricane, but that went to Mexico instead. So we stayed inside and played with toys and ate too much cake. Pretty amazing since he almost died only 3 months ago. He snoozed and I finished up his video, I posted it here called "Tony's story".
Here's Tony and his cake, I really suck at baking. I can cook real great meals but I…

But just want to say life is great! Tony has been out of his honeymoon for awhile now and it's a huge relief-not exactly "stable" since I hate that term but it's not as scary. His vocabulary is exploding, he's a little behind compared to other kids his age but I know not to compare, he's always been advanced more physically than verbally. He's going to turn 2 this month, I get all teary thinking about it since back in May I had a night of thinking he wouldn't live to see this birthday and he'…

that nose picker in my profile pic is Tony. He's 22 months old and was diagnosed with t1 diabetes two months ago. He loves getting tested (which is a relief), he likes watching it and tries to help. He's okay with the shots. He's on nph and novolog. His honeymoon period ended a few weeks ago.
I stay at home with him, have since birth. My husband works offshore, so it's just me and him most of the time. My husband was in the navy, he just got out. We are glad he did, we have a feeling i…

That photo reminds me of a photo I look of my neice... she was all dressed up and I wanted to take a nice photo... and ended up with one of her looking directly at the camera while picking her nose!!
I hope you are coping ok with everything!
That picture reminds me of my daughter Olivia who is 2 years old (dx 6/12/2007). When I tell her not to pick her nose she thinks it is funny and she will leave her finger in her nose just to get me going. LOL. My daughter is still honeymooning. Is it now better to regulate him now that he is out of the honeymoon stage? Was it a gradual transition?
I saw the nose picker and like a bug to a light, had to venture over and check him out, LOL. I hope you're holding up OK especially since Tony was recently diagnosed AND your husband is away a lot. I was in a similar predicament back when my son was diagnosed, so I can imagine how stressed you are. I'd like to add you as a friend if you don't mind.
Your photo of Tony totally had me laughing out loud!
I just wanted to welcome you to the parents of kids with Type 1 group.
My son, Riley, was diagnosed when he was 3. He is 5 now and is on an Animas insulin pump.
