Adoption

My husband and I are in the beginning process of adoption. It's very... weird and uncomfortable. To go through an agency, a representative came out to our house, took pictures, met our pets... They took down our total history of our lives... where we were born, went to school, where we've lived, happiest/saddest moments....... Our initial interview took about 4 hours. They create a book with all of our info and birth parents wanting to give their babies up for adoption will have the opportunity… Continue

Gizmo

A few weeks ago, my friend, Chris, dutifully named my pump "Gizmo." Where the name comes from, I don't really know. But, poor Gizmo did not previously have a name, so it has stuck. I told him I would one day blog about the naming adventure... so now I have. =o) Anyway, Gizmo and I had a rough time last night/this morning. I went to a birthday party yesterday evening. We ate pizza, jumped in the pool for an hour or so, ate cake and ice cream... a typical birthday party. My 4-year old neice is v… Continue

6.8

My newest A1c. Yay! I went in for my test as scheduled in July and kept putting off going back in for the results. Although, not because I feared the results... I just didn't have time and the new endo refused to tell me the results over the phone or to mail the results to me. Whatever... So, I went in Friday, paid my $30 copay so I could stay for 10 minutes to get my results. I am happy with 6.8. It's definitely better than my previous 8.2! It's been a long time since I've had an A1c in the 6… Continue

Another one bites the dust...

.. and by "another one," I mean ME! My husband and his siblings and I all went out for a long bike ride yesterday (this is where the trouble begins). We like to ride a trail out by the lake. It's about 20 miles around... and really fun. Anyway, we were all riding, talking and laughing... having a good time. My sister in law was trying to tell me something. She was in front of me, so it was kind of hard to hear her, so I rode a little (okay--- really close!) closer to her to listen. Well, she en… Continue

Diabetes affects fingerprints...?

So, I had to have my fingerprints done recently. I showed up at the sheriff's station, gave them my print cards and paid my money. The guy was all cheery and polite.... until I had to show him my hands. He asked what all the "dots" on my left hand fingers were from so we had a little conversation about diabetes, the pump, testing... blah blah blah. Then, he says, "oh, well that's going to make the prints bad and there's nothing I can do about it. The prints probably won't turn out and you'll hav… Continue

I am still using them. I prefer my thighs over anywhere else. In fact my next shipment I am only getting on box of quick sets as I rarely use my stomach.

Thanks. So far I like them. It is nice to be able to use my thighs instead of my stomach and butt all the time.

Chica!!!! How are you??
Sara graduates today from Belton HS...magna cum laude! ...but on the other hand, last A1C was 13.4. I told her if she doesn't start taking control, then she can't go off to college. She can stay home with me! LOL....like she will want to do that! Constant struggle for control. But all is well, still working on the diss.
Got some more research done and published...moving along.
Stay in touch!

Hi Stacie -
Glad you found the community. It is a great place to meet people in our situation. I have learned quite a bit in the short time I have been a member. Take the plunge and get a tattoo, I highly recommend it (I have 10 myself)

Welcome

Take care and stay in control
