Controlling the A1C is easy; it’s all about eating right, exercising daily and making sure you take your insulin. I have a secret that has been the key to my success and that is truly exercise and making sure I eat every four hours. I don't eat a large amount of carbs at night and my insulin intake per day is minimal, which minimizes any hypoglycemic episodes and helps with diet management.
Let me know if you need any help, I can provide any insight to help with your diet management.
Have a great weekend,
I'd like to invite you to join the parents of kids with type 1 group (click on groups above)
My son, Riley, was diagnosed when he was 3. He is 5 now and on an Animas insulin pump.
Can I take it from the photo that you do snorkeling/scuba diving?
My husband and I use to go out when we lived in NZ. The spear fishing was great!
When I got diabetes at age 15, I was the same as your son. No sign of the disease in my family, it was a BIG shock. I was diagnosed while I was still living in Ireland. Now I live in the US.
I think you'll find a lot of support here at TuDiabetes. Check out some of the groups. I know there's a large one for Parents of Type 1 children.
My son has diabetes. No one else that I know of in our families has type 1 diabetes so it came out of left field for us!
Thank you both for your welcome!
Love the treatment you did to your photo.
Who is the person with diabetes in your life, by the way?
Here are some few other tips on how to make the most of the site.
If you find the community useful, we'd be honored if you could link to us on your blog/site if you have one or invite family, friends, colleagues and anyone whom you feel may benefit from it.
