My Aunt Robin

Okay so my Aunt Robin is in Texas for the first time in like 20 years. The last time I saw her was when I was 11 (I'm now 20.) This seems like a huge dream... and that is not a good thing (but it is not bad). She had put our family through so much crap. You see her real mom died when she was 14 and apperantly everything has gone down hill since. She has even made alligations that my dad molested me (SO NOT TRUE!!!!!!) But in the past year she seems to have made a drastic change...for the better?… Continue

Diabetes Burn-Out

I have had diabetes since 1998 (10years) and have been on a MM 722 pump since April 2007.

I AM SICK OF DIABETES!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else had a burn-out from diabetes? I just want to take a brake with out putting my self on a death bed. I wish I had just one day where I did not have to worry what my blood sugar was. If I have enough supplies for the day when I leave the house. If I should take some syringes in case my pump fails.

Then we have the insurance compa…

Small Town Humor....

Ok so I was on my way to the base this morning to pick up my dad (who has PT at 6am?!?) and there was like 6 cars in line with the MP (military police) standing in the road. This solider drives up next to me and waved at my to roll down my window. So I do and he says "Man have you ever seen a traffic jam like this!" I was thinking to myself IT IS ONLY 6 CARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just moving from one of the largest cities in the country(Houston,tx) I have seen traffic jams were you are sitting in your… Continue

"From Bagdad to Houston WE'LL walk anywhere to find a cure!"

Well I walked yesterday for the first time in 5 years. I am glad I did. I am now an advocate for JDRF (I used to be but since moving so much it got hard to do that) I raised 3x more then my goal. and I know now I can say

WE WILL FIND A CURE! ONE DAY WE WILL BE ABLE TO SAY I USED TO HAVE DIABETES!

THANKS TO THE 75TH INF DIV(and all the other units that donated to JDRF!) OF THE US ARMY and US ARMY RESERVE "From Bagdad to Houston

Hi Emily. The main reason I wanted to switch from MM to another brand was because I began having a lot of problems with the Quick sets and reservoirs for the MM. I kept getting bubbles no matter what I did. I may have gotten a bad batch of reservoirs or something, but I knew it was time for a change when my last A1C went from 6.9 to 7.4. I also feel that MM is much more interested right now in the Continuous Glucose Monitoring and not on making their pumps better. So, I decided to research other companies. At first I was excited about the Omnipod, but I tried one and it felt too bulky for me. I then met with an Animas rep and decided to go with the 2020. I am very happy with my choice. There are a few more button pushes than the MM, but I have had no problems with their infusion sets (Insets) and their reservoirs are a dream compared to MM. My A1C went down to 7.2 after only a month on it, so that made me feel that I had made the right decison also. Not much, but definitely going in the right direction. I also like the fact that it has a built in list of foods with carb amounts that you can add to with their software which is really nice when you go out and need an idea of how many carbs you are eating. I also love the color screen - doesn't add anything to the pump really unless you have vision problems, but it is so much nicer than most dull screens. The battery (lithium) last so much longer also. I just changed the battery for the first time - about two months after I first got it. I think that covers it, but if you have specific questions I would be happy to answer them! Good luck! Linda
