MYSTERIOUS LEG PAINS

I've been seeing a Neurologist because of painful legs, that is not Neuropathy. This has been going on for a while. The doctor put me on Lyerica and it helps, sometimes. Now he has decided that further studies need to be done like a doppler test and special bloodwork. I'm wondering has anyone had this experience and what was the outcome? It's frustrating from day-to-day when I wake up I never know what the day will be like. Whether I'll be able to exercise; will I be able to shop; will I be a…

CAR KEYS

Had quite an adventure on Sunday. I went to the Supermarket with the intent of getting an electric knife. I have been wanting an electric knife for quite a while. I could have had one years ago but never just never bought one. Anyway, as I said I went to the market…I also got some tomatoes and lettuce. After paying for those items (this is where my story gets interesting), I went to my car and reached in my pocket for keys an

Strange

This afternoon I had the strangest thing happen after eating lunch. In all of my 48 years, living with D I don't remember this ever happening. I had eaten lumch, which consisted of a large green salad with some chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers and salad dressing (the real kind of dressing). I also had a half an apple. When I finished I watched tv, thinking I would wait an hour and test to make sure my bg was within safe range before leaving for some errands.

When the hour came to test I fe…

LIVING WITH FEAR

I’ve lived with fear since I was a teen and diagnosed with Diabetes. But I didn’t let fear rule my life. I knew from my almost month stay in the hospital that what I had was serious. I knew from the moment I came out of my coma. My first act to show my Diabetes that I wasn’t going to let it limit me was to walk home from the hospital. It was quite a distance, not sure, of how far it was from where I lived.

Hi Betty, thanks for the welcome! My husband also has an autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis! Neither of us have any family history of the autoimmune diseases we have. More interesting, we both found out about diseases within a few years of each other, after a few years of marriage,.... hmmmm?

thank you, for the message. i didn't know that i was diabetic for about 4-5 years before i was rushed to the hospital with a 675 bsr. it was so scarey because no other female in the family has diabetes. it came on strong when i was really traumatized about the break up of my fiance and i in july 05....so in february of 06 is when the doctor in the er told me about it, i was so shocked. than i wondered than how was i supposed to take care of my terminally ill grandson with me being so sick. i remember not being able to move one day out of bed but my grandson was in the day care that day and my two teenaged girls were in high school that day so i had to pick up the phone and call my ex to take me to the hospital and i had this terrible feeling all over my body and i couldn't settle myself down because the pain was unbearable. i remember saying to my ex that i needed to go home and take care of my babies which were my daughters and gson. that i needed to get out, i became upset with myself for having to deal with this. after that it took several days to recuperate, that was over a year ago. my ex and i are back together. he was diagnois with diabetes 6 months after me. we've been helping each other ever since. oh, our 8 yr. anniversary is march the 10th. as for our gson he was in the hospital for 4 days in the icu for his kidney problems he came out on valentines day in time to give me a homemade necklace he make for me. i think its the most beautiful necklace in the world. being diabetic makes you see the world different and appreciative. i know i do. thanks again and i look forward to learning more about keeping my bs low. also to meet other people as well. again, nice to meet you. sincerely, patti

Hi Betty,

I was referring to your doppler test for the mysterious leg pain. If you had it, I hope it went well.

Hey Betty! I had my 2nd eye surgery and will have to have at least 1 or 2 more. I've had lots of lasers for the background retinopathy; but now this is for the prolifertive diabetic retinopathy which my dr. says is the more severe kind. The surgery was unpleasant and for some reason; I got sick and threw up a lot the 1st.night. Now; I am really dreading going back for furtur treatment. Thanks for asking about me. How about you? How are you doing? Have you had a lot of complications? See ya! Pam
