You can check out my long post back in Nov on the skiing & pumping thread . . http://tudiabetes.com/forum/topic/show?id=583967%3ATopic%3A68674&page=1&commentId=583967%3AComment%3A69642&x=1#583967Comment69642.
Yeah, I've had DM for 34 but only been skiing for ~15 yrs, with a few high altitude experiences . . but as I said not enough / regularly to draw permanent conclusions about.
If you ever need any medical help for any of your programs, let me know. Have fun @ the Mt. Hood program in April . . I will be attending the Clinical Diabetes Technology Mtg. in Orlando those same days . .
P.S. Love your music and your pictures, you know how to have fun !
I am interested in hearing about BG's & high altitude as well. Where exactly can I find your wisdom on this subject ? I have a few experiences in CO (A-basin ! ) & UT but nothing like your experience, and not enough to draw any permanent conclusions. Enlighten me when you have the chance and keep up the good work !
Any tips on altitude and low blood sugars? Check out the last posting on my blog (www.thirstylikethetree.blogspot.com) if you get a second. It's crazy and I ended up having to walk away from what could have been a great day on snow. Arg!
yes please i would love to meet others in my area with diabetes as well. that would be awesome. hope to talk to you soon!
Just checked out your website. You are quite an inspiration and I especially liked hearing about your life after diabetes. I think we share a lot of the same views about not letting diabetes stand in the way of anything we want to accomplish. I was an alpine ski racer in high school and college and spent the last three seasons coaching ski racers at Crystal Mountain in Washington. Let me know if you are going to be in the Seattle area anytime because I'm working with a group of amazing diabetic teens who would love to hear your story.
