Hey Sean do you have any snowboarding camps in CO. I've been riding for 20 years diabetic for 8. Know a bit about both and would definitely be up for helping out at a camp. Give me a shout if you are ever in summit county.

We are heading up to Sunday River, Maine tonight . . .Forecast calls for 8-10 in the MTNS . . For East Coast skiing this is amazing for this late in the season . . some mtns are extending their close date . .

Sean . . A-Basin expanded by 80% ? ! Wow ! Does it still have the no frills feel @ the base lodge though? We are big fans of Mad River Glen in Warren, VT, for its challenging terrain but especially for its old fashioned feel. Its a co-op, owned by the skiers, and they just raised $ to replace the single chair . .with another single chair ! Ooops . .they don't allow snowboarders . .Sorry.
You can check out my long post back in Nov on the skiing & pumping thread . . http://tudiabetes.com/forum/topic/show?id=583967%3ATopic%3A68674&page=1&commentId=583967%3AComment%3A69642&x=1#583967Comment69642.
Yeah, I've had DM for 34 but only been skiing for ~15 yrs, with a few high altitude experiences . . but as I said not enough / regularly to draw permanent conclusions about.
If you ever need any medical help for any of your programs, let me know. Have fun @ the Mt. Hood program in April . . I will be attending the Clinical Diabetes Technology Mtg. in Orlando those same days . .
P.S. Love your music and your pictures, you know how to have fun !

Sean . . . nice going ! Checked out your website, how inspirational ! I've had T1 almost 34 years . . I'm very passionate about diabetes care, education and not allowing it to be a limitation. (For me or others . . ) I also happen to be addicted to skiing ! (Northeast . .) I took a snowboarding lesson about 10 years ago, loved it, not half bad @ it, but couldn't convince my husband into it. My 8 year old (non-DM) has been skiing since age 3 and now is beginning to beg for snowboarding !
I am interested in hearing about BG's & high altitude as well. Where exactly can I find your wisdom on this subject ? I have a few experiences in CO (A-basin ! ) & UT but nothing like your experience, and not enough to draw any permanent conclusions. Enlighten me when you have the chance and keep up the good work !

Hey Shawn -
Any tips on altitude and low blood sugars? Check out the last posting on my blog (www.thirstylikethetree.blogspot.com) if you get a second. It's crazy and I ended up having to walk away from what could have been a great day on snow. Arg!

Hey Sean, thanks for the invite. I checked out your camp site and forwarded it to my nephew. He lives in Southern Oregon and is also a T1. Looks like a good time!

Hey Sean,
Just checked out your website. You are quite an inspiration and I especially liked hearing about your life after diabetes. I think we share a lot of the same views about not letting diabetes stand in the way of anything we want to accomplish. I was an alpine ski racer in high school and college and spent the last three seasons coaching ski racers at Crystal Mountain in Washington. Let me know if you are going to be in the Seattle area anytime because I'm working with a group of amazing diabetic teens who would love to hear your story.
