Welcome to TuDiabetes Brenda! I saw the comment about your friend losing weight-- he should definitely ask his doctor to get tested for type 1!!! If the doctor won't do it, go to another doctor! It's really important just to be sure that he is treating his diabetes in the right way. I am going through something similar now with someone close to me, who is in his 50's but losing weight quickly.
