Oh what the heck!

You know how you just want things to run smooth without too many hiccups as you know you already have a full plate? Well, oh what the heck is my response! When I last posted to you here, I was learning to juggle my two insulins and preparing for a trip to the DSWA convention in Las Vegas. Ha ha...best laid plans! In addition to a great educational event, it was also a great networking event. I had planned my wardrobe, planned on how I was going to share my product line and make new contacts for… Continue

Learning to Juggle

First off, thank you's to those of you that reached out to me after my last blog entry. I really was at my wits end that evening! Thank you! You know, this Type 1 stuff is complicated! I'm over the shock and horror of having to give myself the 4 shots a day. It is a little daunting though to have to carry my meter and insulin pens everywhere though. I'll get used to it soon I'm sure though. Can't wait to get my first meter bag from Stick Me Designs! I'm counting the hours til UPS… Continue

Ch-Cha -changes...

2 week appt. Good news...no other problems/issues. Bad news...now I'm told I'm Type 1 not Type 2 after all this time. So, now add Novolog Flexpen insulin for meal times and toss all the oral meds that were not doing me any good anyway. Now I have to learn to plan, cook, claen up, figure my meal time doses and give myself a shot while looking pretty? Husband thinks I need a second opinion. This WAS the second opinion! As you can tell, I'm a little touchy! Give me a couple hours to adjust my a… Continue

Starting in the middle...

That's what I feel like...like I'm starting in the middle right now. I've been on oral meds for T2 since November 2006. Still struggling with High A1c/daily bg and weight loss. Started 2006 as a full figured woman - 180 lbs at 5' 0". Today - still 5' 0". Weighing in at 88 lbs. March 2008. Dr I was seeing was keeping me alive and reminding me every few months that I would need to go on insulin. That was about the size of things. When I had to change insurance, I decided I needed to make a fresh… Continue

Hi Carla,
Yes it is a small world. I like men from Mo. too. Thanks for the smile. How are you doing? Have you made the adjustment on to the insulin yet? I know it is frustrating. I was first diagnosed as a type 2. Then after the first few months we had to make the change to insulin and I am happy we did. Now that I know I am LADA a lot more things make sense. I find I still have to make adjustments for different things that come up. But it is much easier to do with insulin. I would love to hear from you again. Let me know how you are doing.

Not sure where to begin...I have T2 and even that is being questioned due to my HIGH bg and weight loss. Struggling to keep the bg down and still gain 12 lbs. I was 180 lbs in March 2006. In April we had a shocking hit and run that totaled our 2 cars in front of our house. The shock put me into a tailspin and I started losing weight due to the extreme stress. Little did I know that my switch from Coke Classic to WATER was no accident. My body was attacking itself. By June I was down to 110 lbs and in August I was shopping in the little girls dept at Dillards. In Nov I was told that my Alc registered at 14. I've been on oral meds until last week when a new Dr. put me on Lantus Solostar 7 units.
Its a new world and one I'm not sure I'm liking. I did not want to have to be on insulin, at least not yet.
After a week I can admit that I am sleeping better, and though my bg readings are not yet below 250, I'm sure that adding the insulin has been helpful. Don't tell anyone I said that though!
Looking forward to getting to know more of the people in this community better!
Thanks for letting me share.
