Hi Kaerli. I just got on this myself as you can see from the ragtag profile. I'll work on getting it together. I noticed you say shots, diet and excercise. I'm new to this but that's my approach too. It's a shame they seem to focus so much on diet and excercise for T2s but then make it seem like it won't help T1s. First off I eat so little carb that I only bolus 2 to 3 units at lunchtime and take my Levemir at night. And when I excercise I'm so sensitive to insulin I always take 1 less unit. A lot of T1s think excercise won't matter so they can just be a slob and eat whatever they want and dump industrial doses of insulin to cover it and everything is fine. Then the infamous weight gain. It's a no brainer. Diabetic or not, heavy carb load=heavy insulin(whether you produce it yourself or injected)=fat storage. Simple. They started me on insulin in June and everyone said "Oh you'll gain weight back". Now I've tried hard in the last year (not knowing I was diabetic) to keep weight off by going to the gym and eating right so I'm not going to concede to that easily. Through low carb and excercise I've gained maybe 2 pounds back. Anyway I'm just getting to know people here so, HEY!
Welcome aboard. This is a wonderful place to be with a great group of folks. Hope to hear from you soon.
