Considering the Animas 2020 Pump...

I was wondering if anyone using the Animas 2020 would care to share their opinion(s)? I'm currently on the MM712 for the past 4 years with the warranty ending this month. My Endo suggested the 2020 as a replacement, but I would really like to talk with someone on this pump....

Hello Joseph

Thanx for joining the Diabetic Complications group, we look forward to your input.
I am on the minimed as well right now, but if you plan to blog or get help with the 2020, i will sure sit up and take notice, I wonder sometimes what options and other things are out there.

I wish you well

Robert

Good luck! If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email. I was actually just thinking yesterday that now that I've had this pump for a couple months I don't notice the differences anymore between this and the last pump I used - it just takes a little bit of time. Each pump has advantages and disadvantages so it's a matter of getting used to each.

Welcome to the TuDiabetes family, Joseph!!

Here are a few tips on how to make the most of the site. I invite you check out the different groups we have: there's an excellent chance you will find more than a few that you can identify with.

If you find the community useful, I'd be honored if you could link to us on your blog/site if you have one or invite family, friends, colleagues and anyone whom you feel may benefit from it.

Also, if you know of any local newspapers that you feel could be interested in writing about our community, please let them know about our recent Press Release, announcing the community: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/8/prweb546849.htm

Last, if you run into Spanish-only speaking folks, please let them know about EsTuDiabetes.com, our sister Spanish-speaking community.

There does seem to be slightly more button pushing with the Animas, but i've gotten used to it and it seems now to be just as easy as my last pump. While there may be one more screen to go through (when it calculates how much insulin you need to give based on your carb intake and insulin on board, you actually have to then input that amount of insulin - it doesn't do it automatically if that makes any sense - I think it's a safety feature). But the numbers move so quick when you are inputting (meaning getting to the proper bolus amount) that i don't think it ends up making much difference. The Deltec was super user friendly so this was a change, but it's been great now that I've gotten used to it. Overall I have been very happy with the Animas and would definitely recommend it.
