Happy day and not happy day.

Well, I got some amazing news today, and I cant wait. The problem is, due to corporate confidentiality agreements, I cant reveal what it is. Lets just say it involves my favorite pump company. When I can say, I will tell you guys ASAP!!!

I also got a first look at the new meter that Minimed will be using with the pumps starting soon. Let me say this thing makes the BD logic look like the One Touch 2. Its going to be a One Touch meter very much like the Ultra 2s and it is a beast. T…

Hmmm...interesting....

So I was doing a little research on this whole CGM business after three separate friends of mine and about 5 people on here told me that Deltec and Animas's units were close to production. I refused to believe that a company who had no trials and no interest in doing a CGM would tell their people to tell customers that it was within four months from public market.

Well, someone I know who is also a Minimed-er like me passed this info along to me after I told him how crazy I thought…

Cant always be a crusader...but you can try!

Well, I have come to a harsh reality over the last few days: It is very tough to be a crusader for the best things in the diabetes world. I have found out through my experiences on message boards and even on Yahoo answers (haha!), that information is a luxury.

For instance, not everyone knows that the new gold standard in Diabetes care has nothing to do with insulin shots. Even though coverage has almost become universal, not many people are familiar with the GINORMOUS benefits of…

hi. i read your comments on some blog about cozmore pumps compared to minimed. i am currently on a paradigm pump and about to get on a cozmo. i have had so many problems with minmed its insane. every interaction i have had with their customer service in the past 7yrs has been horrible. they even charged me for a new pump and gave me a new 4yr warranty when i asked for a replacement since hte one i had just stopped working. and i was still under warranty. i dunno. i just wanted to share my opinion on that. do u know anything about animas pumps? i might even get on of those. not sure yet. justtrying to find others opinions on different pumps out there. thanks.

Adam, I have seen you strongly criticizing Cozmo-- and while you are certainly entitled to your own opinion... we all have different priorities when it comes to our diabetes care.

I'm on the Cozmo and did a trial with the MiniMed with CGMS and I am not interested in switching. That's my preference.

Also, with all this talk of Smith's medical exiting the insulin pump market, why did they even bother with the recent upgrade? And they would be legally obligated to provide customer service until all warranties expired right? Plus, I have a hard time imagining that they would just abandon the Deltec Cozmo pump-- wouldn't it be more likely that they sell to some other company? The Cozmo is a good pump-- and there are plently of people out there who feel that way!

Thanks for your feedback! And I wish you good BG levels... it's hard when they affect the emotional side of things as well...

I just wanted to let you know that I got my approval letter for the CGMS from BCBS of TN today! I am so excited. I didn't even have to appeal it. The rep from MiniMed told me he has had about 13 approvals in the past few weeks. So, now you can add BCBS of TN to your list of companies that approve the CGMS. :)

I don't think you can help me.The pump isn't covered under my husband's insurance. The supplies are though. It's our "wonderful" government in Canada that won't cover insulin pumps for adults.A couple of years ago they started covering them for children under 18.They said that afterthe bulk of children were taken care of it might happen for adults.HMMMM.I'm still waiting.Thanks.

Hi Adam.Gee,that made alot of sense what you wrote about the database in the cozmo.I was thinking about it and the only places that I go to eat are at my motherinlaw's and restaurants. So it probably isn't that big of a loss.Like I was telling my mom.If Smith's Medical gets out of the pump business what do you do when you have a problem or need a new one?.I'm going to see demos of Animas, Cozmo and Minimed. The reps are coming to my house to show me some.Steve the rep at Minimed said that they are 10 -15 years ahead of the other companies.
