Thanks for the add request.
I really can relate to your feelings. I feel embarassed and sometimes awkward about my diabetes especially with the uneducated. fortunaltely I am blessed to have a husband and daughters who understand very well what I am going through. I know i feel guilty enough when I have a milk shake and don't bolus enough and my sugars are sky high. My husband doesn't heap on the pressure; he encourages me. I think the pump is an 'enabler' sometimes. It gives me the ability to eat what I want and it also gives me too much freedom. I have gained a solid 15 pounds since going on the pump less than 2 years ago. I have started walking everyday....sometimes I feel depressed about the weight. My mom (she's 77) is one of those people who is constantly on a diet and is never overweight. I was diagnosed with my diabetes at 28, so I finally had a reason to not to succumb to her obsession with weight.
I like the way you articulate your feelings about 'd' and this website has given me an amazing insight into the lives of other people like myself. Yes, I often do the things that will kill me if I don't stop. I know that without the help and encouragement of my husband and family I would be less healthy. But most of all I have realtionship with the Lord that is based on me being very imperfect and He being loving, forgiving and full of grace. I can't do this life living with diabetes without Him. I hope you have a great day. Gretchen
